Tell U.S. leaders that it's not too late to turn off the tap on plastic pollution - but there’s No Time to Waste!
As we make, use, and discard plastic, it’s piling up all over our planet. Plastic is found in almost every marine area on Earth — from our lakes, rivers, and streams, from polar sea ice to major ocean gyres to deep ocean trenches. The majority of sea turtle, marine mammal, and seabird species have been impacted by plastic. Not only does plastic pollution threaten the health of the planet, but also our own.
We can solve this problem by reducing the amount of plastic produced at every stage of the plastic life cycle, but we need strong leadership from the international community – especially the United States.
On April 23, leaders from 175 countries are coming together to negotiate a landmark agreement to create the world’s first-ever Global Plastic Treaty. Join us in calling on the U.S. government to be a global leader in this historic opportunity to end the plastic pollution crisis.

No Time to Waste!
Dear President Biden:
Today I am asking your administration to step up and take a stronger leading role in the negotiations for an effective, bold agreement to stop plastic pollution in the Global Plastic Treaty starting this April. There has never been an opportunity like this before for the global community to take action against the plastic crisis, and there is no time to waste!
There is a daily deluge of expert warnings, reports and data revealing how bad this is getting, from plastic manufacturing pollution to the tiny pieces of plastics being found nearly everywhere we look - from the deep sea to our own bodies. The science is clear - the plastic pollution crisis is a threat to all Americans, to the people and environments we care about and rely on, and to our future. It’s not fair for some countries to block progress at the very moment when the world needs to press forward to end plastic production and pollution.
I want to know that the United States is asking for a treaty that will make me, my family, and my community safer. I want to see a treaty that will mean drastically less plastic is produced, a treaty that means we stop relying on single-use plastic, and a treaty where waste is captured and reused safely. I would like the United States to lead us all forward on a more innovative and safer path to address the plastic pollution crisis.
Please speak loudly and boldly on my behalf and fight for an ambitious global treaty.
Thank you!
