Hello,

I’m writing today to express my deep concern about the attempts to weaken and dismantle the Endangered Species Act and urge you to oppose any actions to compromise the promise of the ESA to protect and revitalize imperiled species and their habitats.

The introduction of the ESA Amendments Act of 2025 along with the recent proposal to rescind the definition of harm from the legislation signals an alarming trend with this current administration that puts the interests of resources extraction corporations above those of our local communities that rely on a thriving ecosystem for the health and beauty of our great nation.

I stand with aquariums and zoos across the world in fighting for the vulnerable species that keep our air and waters clean, put food on our table, and protect our communities from the effect of rising sea levels and extreme weather events. For example, under the guidance of the Endangered Species Act, aquariums and zoos have taken steps to recover the population of the freshwater mussels that clean the rivers and lakes that communities rely on for recreation.

Protecting our shared natural heritage—including threatened and endangered species—is a core American value that is clearly enshrined in the ESA. Please reject any effort to weaken or dismantle this cornerstone of American conservation policy.
